The process:
I first drew a rough sketch in my sketchbook and then scanned it. I then drew a very rough lineart using Sandara's small brush set.

The rest of the process consisted of experimenting with colors. I drew this piece at a time when I did not use predetermined color palettes. I think the hardest part of this piece was shading the skin; shading skin was always particularly difficult for me because I didn't know which colors to use for highlights and which to use for shadows.
Often times when I drew skin without using a reference, it looked a bit "muddy" because I tended to stick to reddish-brown undertones. However, now I know to use pink, yellow, or brown undertones, depending on the character.
