Media: Digital Art, Photoshop Elements 7.0
Time: ~45 to 50 minutes
This piece is the companion piece to "Viridian." It is also an experimental piece. At the time, I was using both Photoshop Elements 7.0 and PaintTool Sai interchangeably. This piece helped me realize that I liked Photoshop's brushes more than Sai's.
When I think of my art, I think of bold colors, defined lines, and lots of shading. If I have to describe my art in one word, I would describe it as "heavy." In my opinion (at the time), Photoshop's brushes had a bit more "resistance" than PaintTool Sai's. This resistance gave Photoshop's brushes a heavier feel, which resonated with my art style.
Because I liked the outcome of this piece, I moved over to using Photoshop for most of my digital art pieces. If I occasionally wanted a change, I would switch over to Sai.
In my room I have a closet mirror that is perpendicular to my desk. While working on this piece, I would frequently look in the mirror to help make the character's face more realistic.
