Media: Micron pens and pencil on Strathmore Toned Gray paper
Time: ~4 hours
This is a request from an artist on DeviantArt. I drew her original character Lena. This piece gives me such an Alice in Wonderland vibe, mostly because of the distorted frame in the background and the creatures lurking within the frame.
In the artist's original works, Lena is often featured with a pack of goblins (I know I just subconsciously referenced Diablo III). I was having some issues with the composition of this piece, however, so I decided to just draw the goblin's eyes in the background instead of the goblins themselves. Adding the goblins would have made the scene seem too congested.
I drew this piece when I sadly didn't have Photoshop on my (then) new laptop. Therefore, I did some REALLY QUICK editing in Pixlr Express (pixlr.com -- my favorite online editor) to brighten up the jar. I know it doesn't look too realistic, but I am too lazy to change it. The Strathmore toned gray paper I used has a beautiful, natural texture. That being said, I added a bit of a textured overlay to the piece to give it more of a spooky feel -- I don't know if that worked though, haha.
