I remember watching "The Carrie Diaries" on TV a while after it initially aired, and I couldn't help but think that some of the actors in the show looked extremely familiar. So I googled the show and some of the actors, and I found a really pretty photo of AnnaSophia Robb. I used that photo as the reference for this piece.
I tested out a new (what was then new) set of chalk brushes and ended up really liking them. I used a default round brush to smooth out and blend this piece.
I think the greatest challenges were drawing her hair and shading her cheekbones. I like this piece when I don't compare it to the reference. In comparison to the original image, however, my painting looks flat, heavy, and blurry. I think the colors I used, the heaviness of the eyeliner, and the shading on the forehead and cheeks account for these characteristics.
I was listening to Fitz and the Tantrums while drawing, so the title of this piece comes from one of their songs.
This piece was originally drawn in greyscale and was then edited with Pixlr Express.
